Phillips 66 is seeking an Advanced Control & Automation Engineer to support Advanced Process Controls (APC) application at multiple gas processing facilities in Houston, Texas. The candidate will partner with process engineering and site operations to identify, develop, and execute APC applications while training operators and ensuring high utilization.
Responsibilities
Partner with process engineering and site operations to identify, develop and execute APC applications.
Maintain, support and troubleshoot APC applications and their interfaces with base process control systems.
Provide training and consulting to operations and engineering teams to improve APC utilization.
Develop and implement best‑practice standards for long‑term effectiveness of multi‑unit optimization and predictor applications.
Travel to sites as needed (up to 35% of time) for implementation and maintenance of APC applications.
Prepare and issue quarterly and annual progress reports with key performance metrics.
Vet software updates from vendors and assist sites with upgrades.
Participate in APC and process control peer reviews.
Assist in discovery, selection and implementation of new technologies and practices for Advanced Control and Optimization.
Required Qualifications
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Valid driver’s license.
5+ years of multivariable process control and optimization experience.
Process knowledge in the Natural Gas Cryogenic process.
Experience with Distributed Control Systems.
Willing to travel up to 35% of the time and be on call.
Willing to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
Gas Processing knowledge with strong understanding of process units, interactions and business drivers.
Experience with process control techniques on major refinery units.
Experience with leading APC and optimization software (Aspen DMC+/DMC3, Honeywell Profit Suite, Aspen GDOT, Schneider Electric ROMEO, etc.).
Experience with communications interfaces between APC technology and DCS (Schneider Electric Foxboro, Emerson Delta V, Honeywell Experion, etc.).
Experience with machine‑learning tools for data analytics and process control (Python, R).
Independent worker and team player, with strong trust, safety‑practice commitment and communication skills.

Pay range: $155,700–$181,700 depending on experience and education.

We operate more than 70,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals, along with 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumers.
