Personal Injury Pre-Litigation Associate

We are seeking a dedicated, detail‑oriented Pre‑Litigation Attorney to manage personal injury cases from intake through settlement or litigation referral. This role offers the opportunity to evaluate cases, negotiate settlements, and prepare matters for potential litigation while collaborating with a high‑performing legal team.
Salary and Compensation:
$75,000 – $110,000 Base
per year, performance‑based bonus for settled cases, health, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited paid time off, professional development and mentorship.

What You’ll Do
Manage a high‑volume caseload of personal injury claims from intake through settlement or referral to litigation
Conduct client interviews and maintain consistent, professional communication
Review and evaluate medical records, accident reports, and other evidence to assess liability and damages
Develop case strategies and valuations based on evidence and applicable law
Draft demand letters, settlement packages, and negotiate directly with insurance adjusters
Collaborate with paralegals, case managers, and medical providers to ensure timely and thorough case development
Prepare cases for litigation, including compiling documentation, drafting pre‑suit pleadings, and coordinating file transition to litigation attorneys
Ensure all case activity complies with firm policies, deadlines, and legal standards
Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements within the pre‑litigation department
What We’re Looking For
J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Illinois
3+ years of experience in personal injury law or insurance defense preferred
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
Strong legal writing and research abilities
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain organization in a fast‑paced environment
Client‑centered approach with empathy, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills
Proficiency with case management systems (e.g., SmartAdvocate preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
Working Conditions
Full‑time, in‑office position (Monday–Friday)
Occasional travel for client meetings, mediations, or depositions may be required
