$58,700 – $77,200 per year

Overview As part of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Operations team, the Manager provides leadership and coordination for implementing turfgrass field research, education, and outreach programs at the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation Research and Education Facility. The role oversees field operations, staff, facilities, equipment, and fiscal resources to meet teaching, research, and extension objectives.

Responsibilities

Lead the implementation of turfgrass research plots, including tillage, fertilization, pesticide application, mowing, irrigation, and drainage.

Supervise, train, hire, coach, and evaluate staff and student employees.

Maintain complete histories and prepare operational reports for investigators.

Plan and coordinate field days and outreach events.

Assist faculty with student instruction for lab exercises.

Oversee landscaping, snow removal, and maintenance operations at Waterman.

Coordinate the Waterman Grounds Work Group to propose grounds improvements.

Procure supplies and manage maintenance of equipment.

Manage budget in coordination with the Waterman Director.

Represent OSU Turf Team and CFAES at industry and regional meetings.

Maintain effective communication with industry professionals, administrators, faculty, staff, and the public.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Food, Agricultural, Environmental Sciences or related field, or equivalent experience.

Desired: Master’s degree or training in turfgrass management; specialization in crop sciences with a turfgrass focus.

Required: Three years of turfgrass management experience (golf, sports, lawn turf).

Desired: Knowledge of field research methods and experimental design; experience with student experiential learning in field settings.

Experience with landscape and snow removal acceptable.

Strong communication, collaboration, and supervisory skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, web browsers, and database management.
