The Lockheed Martin Space Mission Processing team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer Sr to join our development team. As a Software Engineer, you will work with a team of developers to design, develop, test, and deploy a major software subsystem to provide mission planning instructions or health and status controls as part of a first‑of‑its‑kind antenna system. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative, forward‑leaning programs while working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Responsibilities

Planning and conducting software development activities

Designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software for a system performing complex processing of instruction sets for multiple hardware sites based on user input

Applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. This will include working within an Agile workflow and supporting major program milestone events (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR) from initial design through final delivery of a product

Applying knowledge of computer hardware and software, mission planning or command and control systems, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software

Correcting program errors, preparing operating instructions, compiling documentation of program development, and analyzing system capabilities, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls

Ensures software standards are met in conjunction with team leadership

Selected candidate must have an active TS/SCI security clearance for consideration. This is an MID‑SR (level 3) ROLE where candidates typically require 3 years of professional experience and a BS degree. This position is contingent upon the program award expected in Q1, 2026.

Desired skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical discipline. Equivalent industry‑related experience is acceptable

Experience developing software/hardware interfaces including integration with third‑party API’s

Demonstrated understanding of software design with a focus on web‑client user interfaces

Experience with C++, Python, Angular, Active MQ, or other similar high‑level languages

Work Schedule Information Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
