About the Role As part of the Maple Grove Process Development team, this position leads a team that develops prototype solutions, technology development, and technical support for all phases of product development from concept through commercialization. The role oversees people and processes necessary to ensure functional excellence and delivery of robust, scalable, high‑quality manufacturing processes to division and operations customers.

Responsibilities

Supervise, lead, and provide technical direction to a group of Engineers to develop highly capable, scalable, and robust laser manufacturing processes, and transfer these into operations.

Assist manager in guidance and training of staff, develop subordinates to attain career goals, motivate individuals, and maintain high‑quality staff.

Work with manager to establish department goals, objectives, and budgets.

Assist manager in planning resource needs and hiring for department.

Lead engineering teams to the successful completion of PD project goals.

Ensure execution of functional deliverables associated with PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Quality Systems.

Successfully complete Process Development engineering project work for new product development.

Prioritize and manage execution of multiple projects.

Maintain and enhance cross‑functional team relationships.

Work cross‑functionally to identify and resolve engineering issues.

Ensure policies and processes are followed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.

Minimum of 3 years of professional experience leading technical people/teams.

Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic & international) when needed.

Prior experience in medical devices or other highly regulated industry.

Demonstrated cross‑functional collaboration in a technically demanding environment.

Demonstrated management of service‑oriented team such as a production team.

Experience with facilities management, equipment utilization, scheduling team activities, and customer delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional experience in laser cutting technology.

Proven leadership and management of a technical group with coaching and development.

Proficiency with various laser machinery (build, maintenance, usage).

Experience leading teams in developing and transferring manufacturing processes across a global network.

Vision to anticipate future technologies and initiate projects with minimal oversight.

Experience leading teams through the product life cycle from exploration to commercialization and end of life.

Leadership skills combined with experience working with component/product vendors.

Mechanical aptitude.
