Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer – Jacobs Jacobs is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Boston office and support the design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures, and slopes for transportation infrastructure projects.

Base Pay Range $80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr

Location Boston, MA

Responsibilities

Perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures, and slopes for public and private transportation infrastructure projects.

Analyze shallow and deep foundations, including piles and drilled shafts, retaining walls, and excavation support systems.

Inspect geotechnical exploratory activities and construction processes, ensuring compliance with design requirements.

Develop and oversee subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.

Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, and global delivery teams to deliver engineering solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.

Working knowledge of soil mechanics theory and laboratory testing techniques.

Engineer‑In‑Training certificate.

Master of Science in Civil Engineering (beneficial but not required).

0–2 years of design experience in a consulting/contracting environment.

Willingness and flexibility to travel for work.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Computer proficiency, including CADD and Microsoft Office.

Driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 3.0 GPA.

MS degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.

Previous internship in geotechnical evaluations, soil and rock classification, or foundation design.

Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software such as Ensoft APile, LPile, GeoStudio, Rocscience SLIDE, GRLWeap, DeepEx, Bentley gINT/Openground, and AutoCAD.

Python programming and application of AI/ML in civil engineering (advantageous).

Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
