Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
As a dynamic, student‑centered executive leader, you will serve on the President's Cabinet and senior leadership team, integrating Student Affairs and Enrollment Management to support the student experience from recruitment through graduation at Albany State University.
Job Summary The Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management is a senior leader who oversees all Student Affairs and Enrollment Management operations, ensuring cohesive policies, data‑informed practices, and a culture of innovation and service excellence. This role drives initiatives that enhance student access, engagement, persistence, and completion.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Institutional Impact
Serve as a senior advisor to the President and Provost on student affairs and enrollment strategies aligned with institutional goals.
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive plan integrating enrollment management and student success initiatives to improve recruitment, retention, and completion outcomes.
Represent the University at meetings and external events, reporting on enrollment, retention, and student engagement metrics.
Foster strategic partnerships across Academic Affairs, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and Institutional Research.
Division Oversight & Team Development
Provide executive leadership for all Student Affairs and Enrollment Management units, including student conduct, residence life, student engagement, basic needs delivery, advising, testing, admissions, financial aid, off‑campus recruitment, military recruitment, enrollment support services, and the full enrollment life cycle.
Leverage predictive analytics, CRM, Banner, and reporting dashboards to inform decision‑making and track progress.
Develop market‑sensitive recruitment strategies addressing demographic shifts, student segmentation, and competition.
Build and mentor a high‑performing team; promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and service excellence.
Student Experience & Success
Oversee programs and services that support academic and personal development, including residence life, advising, and student engagement.
Lead the design and implementation of structured academic, transfer, and career pathways to ensure clear progression from entry to completion.
Champion initiatives that enhance student engagement, academic excellence, and holistic development.
Enrollment Management
Oversee the full enrollment lifecycle—from marketing and recruitment to registration and matriculation.
Leverage predictive analytics, CRM systems, and reporting dashboards to inform decision‑making.
Develop market‑sensitive recruitment strategies addressing demographic shifts and student segmentation.
Data‑Informed Decision Making
Conduct ongoing assessments of program effectiveness; analyze outcomes and initiate continuous improvement.
Collaborate with Institutional Effectiveness to evaluate impact and inform long‑term planning.
Budget & Resource Management
Oversee division‑wide budgets and resource planning.
Manage institutional and donor‑funded aid, scholarships, and work‑study programs to optimize access and affordability.
External & Community Engagement
Cultivate partnerships with K‑12 districts, community colleges, and community organizations to build enrollment pipelines.
Represent the University at regional and national conferences; strengthen institutional visibility and impact.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate or other terminal degree, preferably in counseling, student personnel, higher education administration, or a related field.
A minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience in higher education at the director level or above.
Demonstrated success in strategic planning, budgeting, personnel management, and compliance oversight.
Commitment to fostering a student‑centered environment that advances student success.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with a proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Experience in managing student retention programs and fostering student engagement with faculty.
A thorough understanding of the academic programs and the ability to collaborate on student success initiatives.
Expertise in managing budgets, personnel, and complex organizational structures within a higher education setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation reporting requirements; student services systems; enrollment management strategies; and national initiatives that enhance student success.
Strong understanding of student learning and development principles, including pathway models, advising frameworks, and holistic support strategies.
Skilled in data interpretation, program evaluation, budgeting, personnel management, and strategic planning.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse constituencies.
Addresses complex, strategic‑level issues requiring sound judgment and innovation in alignment with institutional mission and governing board policies.
Make independent decisions with discretion and foresight, developing business or technical rationales that guide resource allocation and long‑ or short‑term institutional priorities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Enrollment Management CRMs, database systems, and enterprise software platforms; demonstrates integrity and security in all digital operations.
Salary Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
