Senior Data Architect (Staff Architect II) – Technology Solutions Group Join Bain & Company as a Senior Data Architect in the Technology Solutions Group. The role leads design, development, and governance of an enterprise‑scale modern data platform on Azure.

Role Focus The Senior Data Architect will own end‑to‑end data architecture, ensuring a scalable, secure, high‑performing data ecosystem that enables advanced analytics, AI, and visualization.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, and governance of Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Unity Catalog, and Purview for data governance.

Drive integration of Azure components, orchestrating data pipelines and semantic layer design.

Maintain Unity Catalog and Purview for data lineage, cataloging, access control, and governance.

Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to translate requirements into actionable solutions.

Optimize platform performance and data quality, adopting emerging tools and AI‑driven solutions.

Guide and mentor junior engineers and analysts on architecture best practices.

Qualifications

Hybrid model: in‑office presence at least 2 days per week.

Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

8–12+ years progressive experience in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics platform design.

3+ years hands‑on experience with Azure cloud and the Databricks ecosystem.

Expertise in Medallion architecture (Bronze–Silver–Gold layers) design for scalable pipelines.

Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration.

Experience with data governance, cataloging, and lineage using Microsoft Purview and Unity Catalog.

Strong SQL, Python, PySpark; data modeling (dimensional, canonical, data vault).

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Working knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, and integration with AI/ML and full‑stack applications.

Understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance best practices (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).

Proven track record in end‑to‑end architecture and delivery of modern data platforms on Azure.

Experience designing lakehouse and data warehouse solutions for analytics and operational consumption.

Background in establishing data governance frameworks and driving architecture standards.

Experience leading data engineering and analytics teams in an agile environment.

Preferred: AI/ML integration and conversational data access (chatbots).

5% travel required.

Compensation & Benefits Base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with company contribution, comprehensive health benefits, paid time off, and wellness program. Salary range for this role varies by location from $146,500 to $202,000.
