A large, international industrial organization with a broad product portfolio and global footprint is seeking an
Accounting Policy Manager
to join its corporate finance function. This highly visible role helps shape, oversee, and maintain the company’s accounting policies, working closely with senior finance leaders, technical accounting, operations, and cross‑functional partners.
This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA with strong technical skills—particularly someone coming from
Big 4 or a complex public‑company environment —who wants to influence policy, strengthen governance, and support enterprise‑wide compliance.
Hybrid schedule — 3 days onsite in Oak Brook, IL
What You’ll Do
Develop, update, and maintain the company’s accounting policies and guidance, ensuring full alignment with
U.S. GAAP
and current regulatory requirements
Partner with business units and corporate teams to implement policies consistently across the organization
Manage the quarterly certification and policy‑attestation process
Oversee the internal policy repository/site and ensure accuracy, version control, and accessibility
Coordinate the policy review and approval process, including distributing drafts, gathering feedback, and tracking updates
Support governance programs related to approval limits, spending authority, and documentation standards
Participate in quarterly accounting policy meetings and collaborate with regional finance leaders
Serve as a resource for accounting questions, interpretation of guidance, and policy application across departments
Assist with technical research and draft accounting memos on new transactions or emerging issues
Work closely with external reporting teams to ensure disclosures properly reflect policy requirements
Monitor new FASB/GAAP developments and support implementation of new standards
Provide training or educational updates to finance teams as policies evolve
Contribute to special projects tied to controls, reporting enhancements, or process improvements
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA required
5–7+ years
of experience, ideally including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred)
Strong technical proficiency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex issues
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Comfort operating in a large, matrixed, global environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities, influence stakeholders, and drive process discipline
