Practice Setting:
Critical Access Hospital (25 beds, 5-bed Emergency Department)
Position Type:
Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician (Travel Contract)
Start Date:
February 1, 2026
Contract Length:
6 months, with potential extension
Shifts:
Night shifts available (8‑hour nights: 19:00 - 07:00, 12‑hour, or 24‑hour options)
Monthly Schedule:
10-12 shifts per month
Estimated Weekly Pay:
$8,160 - $8,750
Support Staff:
Registered Nurses (RNs) and specialty physicians
Annual Emergency Department Volume:
5,500 patients (all ages)
EMR System:
CPSI
Emergency Medicine Physician Qualifications
Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM), or Board Certified Family Medicine/Internal Medicine with extensive emergency medicine experience
Active West Virginia medical license (IMLC accepted; licensing assistance available)
DEA registration required
BLS and ACLS certifications (current)
Minimum 2 years of clinical emergency medicine experience
Ability to provide emergency care to patients of all age groups
Emergency Medicine Physician Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality emergency medical care to diverse patient populations in a rural critical access hospital
Collaborate with RNs and specialty physicians to optimize patient outcomes
Perform emergency procedures and interventions as required
Accurately document patient care in the CPSI EMR system
Participate in departmental meetings, orientation, and ongoing training
