About The Team The Cybersecurity Legal team provides oversight and strategic leadership for a wide range of cybersecurity legal issues and supports Workday’s growth, innovation, security, and integrity. The team includes specialists in litigation and cybersecurity law.
About The Role You will manage Workday’s global Cybersecurity Legal Program, develop and manage legal strategy, and work with cross‑functional partners to address cybersecurity and data privacy challenges.
Responsibilities
Manage and further develop Workday’s Cybersecurity legal program.
Provide cybersecurity legal expertise and guidance to executives and cross‑functional leaders on data security, incident response, risk mitigation, and relevant cybersecurity and data protection laws and regulations.
Provide dedicated legal support to the Chief Information Security Officer and the Cybersecurity and Trust organization.
Lead the legal response of investigations of potential security and privacy incidents and vulnerabilities.
Partner on the development and implementation of cybersecurity programs, training, and exercises.
Develop, maintain, and improve cybersecurity legal processes and procedures, including incident response plans.
Partner with cross‑functional teams to draft, review, and ensure compliance with security terms in customer, vendor, and partner contracts.
Monitor, analyze, and advise on compliance with global and domestic cybersecurity and data security laws, regulations, industry standards, and certifications.
Advise on responses to external inquiries regarding Workday’s information security practices.
Provide legal support to the Corporate Affairs team on cybersecurity policy positions.
Collaborate on cross‑functional projects related to privacy, data security, product development, public policy, and compliance.
Handle outside counsel relationships, including strategy, work product, and budget.
Required Qualifications
J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar in good standing.
7+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, including 3+ years of cybersecurity experience at a national law firm, governmental agency, or in‑house.
Other Qualifications
In‑house experience at a global SaaS company is a plus.
Experience building cybersecurity programs and working with Information Security teams.
Expertise in global security, privacy, and regulatory frameworks.
Experience with SaaS, web technologies, cloud platforms.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and lead in high‑pressure, time‑sensitive, crisis situations.
Strong ability to influence, advise, and advocate for the business’s interests.
Proactively seeks out and leads legal projects and initiatives using strong interpersonal and project management skills.
Pay Transparency Statement The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role‑specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
Flexible Work Workday combines in‑person time and remote. We require at least half (50 %) of your time each quarter in the office or the field. Those in a remote role can come to the office for important moments that matter.
