About the role: As an RVT in our Surgery Department, you'll play a vital role in the entire surgical process, from preparation to recovery. Your primary responsibilities include:
Providing high‑level nursing care and technical support to surgical patients
Preparing patients and surgical suites for procedures
Assisting veterinarians during surgeries, including anesthesia monitoring
Placing IV catheters, urinary catheters, and performing venipuncture
Administering and managing anesthetic and analgesic therapies (including controlled substances)
Performing basic lab tests and maintaining a clean, organized laboratory space
Communicating with doctors and fellow technicians regarding patient status
Supporting patient restraint, blood draws, and client communication during exams
Maintaining accurate, legible medical records
Participating in the on‑call rotation and working scheduled holidays as needed
Adhering to OSHA and hospital safety protocols
Basic Required Qualifications:
High school diploma
Active RVT license in the state if California
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
Consistent and reliable ability to monitor anesthesia, perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position‑related calculations
Proficient in anesthesia administration and monitoring.
Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate approach to patient care.
Experience in the veterinary surgery highly preferred
All basic required qualifications need to be met and demonstrated or your application will not be considered for this role.
