Job Description The Manager of Clinical Informatics supports the Clinical Informatics (CI) leadership to manage the hospital’s Clinical Informatics program. Works closely with the CMIO office, medical staff, hospital leaders, and Information Management to foster improvements in care through the utilization of the electronic health record (EHR). Demonstrates expertise in technology to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of care delivery processes and outcomes. Manages resources and guides successful implementation of improvements in clinical information systems to support excellent clinical outcomes. Holds accountability for clinical informatics resources and guarantees efficient implementation of clinical informatics solutions. Provides strategic guidance and advisory support to hospital and medical staff leaders, including compliance, best practices, and strategic improvement initiatives.

Essential Job Functions Leadership Accountabilities

Strategic Growth – Communicate the critical role staff play in achieving the hospital’s mission and strategic goals; assist CMIO Office with organizational change initiatives; recruit, orient, develop and retain a talented and diverse workforce.

Customer Satisfaction – Model the Service Principles in all interactions; ensure staff receive the information and data needed to perform and prioritize initiatives; address performance issues; hold accountability for provider informaticists supporting clinical informatics projects.

Research and Education – Strengthen brand as a top‑tier pediatric provider by implementing best practices; present at national meetings; collaborate with clinicians on research benefiting from informatics tools.

Patient Safety and Quality – Maintain high standards for quality of care and patient safety; support CMIO Office initiatives to improve processes and outcomes using clinical informatics tools.

Financial Performance – Align departmental goals and resources to meet strategic objectives; evaluate informatics projects for their impact on reducing waste.

Area Specific Job Accountabilities

Informatics liaison to Clinical Applications teams, ensuring appropriate CI review and representation in EHR changes.

Analyze and evaluate data independently to identify trends and create targeted action plans.

Support performance improvement efforts of clinical teams utilizing informatics tools.

Coordinate and execute Clinical Informatics projects ensuring consistency with strategy and goals.

Develop outcomes assessment program to monitor and refine interventions.

Collaborate with leadership on quality reporting, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and workflow efficiencies.

Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements and advise on system impact.

Apply analytical skills to gather information, define problems, and develop technology‑supported improvements.

Collaborate with Data Insights & AI to develop new knowledge and transform care at the bedside.

Provide consultation for patient safety and quality improvement projects involving electronic clinical informatics tools.

Promote EHR functionality to support evidence‑based decision making.

Collaborate with Epic Training Team to disseminate resources.

Serve as expert in design and implementation of EHR interventions.

Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team.

Conduct, coordinate, and publish research in health care informatics.

Adhere to service principles with a customer‑service focus of innovation, excellence, and teamwork.

Perform additional job functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related discipline; Master’s degree or higher in Healthcare Administration, Clinical Informatics, or related field strongly preferred.

Minimum of five years of experience in a healthcare setting.

Demonstrated knowledge of electronic health record technology and experience implementing interventions to influence clinician behavior, improve quality and patient safety, and reduce costs. Epic experience and/or certification preferred.

Working knowledge of healthcare reform, quality, patient safety, and regulatory / compliance issues at national and local levels.

Excellent project management and business analysis skills; experience with process improvement methods (DMAIC, PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma) desired.

Strong communication and writing skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians and staff at all levels.

Strong leadership and change management skills to engage clinical leaders in managing accountability associated with enterprise clinical performance goals.

Pay Range $110,240.00 - $181,896.00 Salary
