Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The

UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health

houses several disciplines including Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Prosthodontics discipline focuses on the restoration and replacement of teeth and/or craniofacial structures.

Position Summary The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry invites applications for a faculty position in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics within the Department of Restorative Sciences. This faculty member will hold a fixed‑term or tenure‑track appointment commensurate with the candidate's experience, academic accomplishments, and career goals.

The successful candidate will contribute to the school's mission through excellence in teaching, clinical care, research, and service. Responsibilities include:

Providing didactic and clinical instruction and mentoring to predoctoral and postdoctoral students in removable and fixed prosthodontics, implant dentistry, digital dentistry, and maxillofacial prosthodontics.

Delivering comprehensive diagnosis, treatment planning, and prosthetic rehabilitation for patients with congenital or acquired craniofacial defects.

Participating in interdisciplinary care with colleagues across UNC Health Care and the Health Sciences Schools (Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, and Pharmacy).

Engaging in scholarly activities, including clinical or translational research, and contributing to the advancement of the field.

Participating in continuing education, faculty development, and professional service at the local, national, or international level.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) / Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or equivalent degree

Certificate from a CODA accredited post‑graduate prosthodontics program

Additional training and experience in maxillofacial prosthodontics

Excellent clinical credentials and experience in dental implants

Demonstrated teaching and scholarly activity

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics or Board eligibility

Experience in interdisciplinary care and collaborative research
