Flour Bakery + Cafe is looking for experienced Shift Leads for our growing team. We are seeking self‑motivated employees who thrive in a fun positive environment and who want to learn how to better delegate, give feedback, and think critically within a team. As a FOH Shift Lead, you will work closely with managers to ensure staff are working efficiently and providing exceptional hospitality, so that all our guests leave happier than when they can in!

Day‑to‑day Performance Expectations

Be the model of hospitality in the bakery.

Help to maintain an overall positive team environment.

Provide open communication with your management about the bakery’s on‑goings, changes, the team, and ideas for improvement.

Demonstrate pride in the bakery by keeping up with cleanliness, organization and/or assigning cleanliness and organization roles to your fellow employees, including sweeping, mopping and other various tasks, as needed.

Act as cash controller for the shifts, ensuring accuracy and completion of all cash transactions.

Be adept and knowledgeable with both our catering orders and our delivery system – including taking walking deliveries when necessary.

Execute perfect store openings and closings in conjunction with your fellow Flour teammates.

Deliver food and beverage orders to guests in the dining room.

Troubleshoot small equipment problems and be fully aware of protocols for equipment failure, including who to call for repairs, how to solve problems, and typical equipment substitutions or workarounds.

Help in any other department as needed – we are one big team at Flour!

Skills for Qualification

At least 1 year of professional food service experience is required.

Prior supervisory experience is highly preferred.

Ability to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift.

Ability to operate equipment such as a cash register, coffee and espresso machinery, grinders, etc.

Availability to work between 30–40 hours per week, and at least 1 weekend shift.

Must be enthusiastic, hard‑working and possess strong hospitality and customer service skills.

Must be able to maintain grooming and uniform standards.

Excellent sense of urgency and ability to recognize when and where help is needed.

Ability to take feedback and direction.

Willingness to work in a team and help all other departments, as needed.

Able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced professional kitchen and bakery environment.

Minimum commitment of 1 year for shift leaders. Unfortunately, we do not offer seasonal or temporary work.

Work Environment

Must be able to work in an environment with loud noises, machinery, and at times, tight spaces.

Must be able to work around various aromas and fluctuating temperatures.

We do our best not to cross‑contaminate anything containing gluten. However, there may be gluten in the air at times. We do our best to accommodate any staff allergy requests.

Compensation This position has an average starting compensation of $21–$25 per hour (base wage of $16 + $5–$9 per hour in pooled tips). The starting pay rate for this position is $16, but the total pay range is $16–$20.45.
