Job Description Pay Range: $23.11hr - $24hr Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, record maintenance data, perform decontamination, and update patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes such as urine or fecal collection. Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand and follow physicians’ orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required based on test orders. Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against orders to ensure complete accuracy. Package specimens for transport. Store specimens according to required temperatures and place samples in the correct containers or tubes following protocol‑specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend required annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results when appropriate. Requirement/Must Have Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (where required). Minimum 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
