Professor of Practice and Director of Graduate Studies & Faculty Engagement in Latin American Studies Tulane University School of Medicine Position Overview This is a 12‑month, full‑time faculty position that provides academic leadership for the M.A. and Ph.D. programs in Latin American Studies, as well as joint degrees with the Business School, Law School, and Department of Art History. The role focuses on graduate teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, and collaboration across the university, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary research methods. Responsibilities Serve as the primary academic advisor for graduate students in Latin American Studies. Teach at least 1–2 courses per semester, including the graduate Core Seminar and the Pedagogy and Practice course for graduate instructors. Coordinate and monitor the graduate curriculum, ensuring rigor, innovation, and relevance to student professional development. Train, mentor, and evaluate graduate‑student instructors for the Latin American Studies undergraduate curriculum. Lead graduate recruitment, admissions, and orientation. Supervise graduate student research assistantships, fellowships, and professional development activities. Convene and lead faculty committees to review graduate admissions, funding, student progress, and academic awards. Facilitate collaboration with faculty across disciplines and maintain strong faculty‑student engagement in research and teaching on Latin America. Support faculty and student access to Stone Center funding opportunities and external grant programs.
