e‑STORAGE is a subsidiary of Canadian Solar and a leading company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and integration of battery energy storage systems for utility‑scale applications. The company offers its own proprietary LFP battery solution, comprehensive EPC services, and innovative solutions aimed at improving grid operations, integrating clean energy, and contributing to a sustainable future. e‑STORAGE has successfully implemented over 3.3 GWh DC of battery energy storage solutions in various locations, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and China. It operates two fully automated, state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facilities with an annual production capacity approaching 20 GWh.
About the Role
The Cybersecurity Engineering Manager serves as a pivotal leader within the global engineering and compliance team at e‑STORAGE. This role is responsible for spearheading the development, execution, and ongoing governance of cybersecurity programs for utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sites worldwide. The manager ensures rigorous adherence to a broad array of international and local cybersecurity standards and regulations, fostering partnerships with internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities to uphold the highest standards of cybersecurity and risk management across all operations.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and continuously improve cybersecurity policies, procedures, and systems for global BESS operations.
Lead and mentor a team of cybersecurity professionals while driving a proactive security culture and awareness across the organization.
Oversee incident response, vulnerability management, and threat intelligence activities for all BESS environments.
Ensure compliance with relevant global cybersecurity standards and regulations (e.g. IEC 62443, ISO 27001, NIST, NIS2, NERC CIP) and manage relationships with regulators, auditors, and certification bodies.
Lead cybersecurity risk assessments, audits, and gap analyses for BESS sites to identify and mitigate security weaknesses.
Develop and manage cybersecurity strategies for OT environments, including network segmentation, access control, secure communications, and GRC principles.
Oversee the implementation of cybersecurity controls for embedded systems, cloud platforms, and industrial networks, collaborating closely with engineering, operations, and Corporate IT Cybersecurity.
Monitor emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and regulatory changes, adapting cybersecurity strategies and roadmaps as needed.
Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
At least 5 years of experience in cybersecurity management, preferably in energy, utilities, or industrial control systems.
Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., IEC 62443, ISO 27001, NERC CIP, SOCI, GDPR).
Educational background in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Proven track record in global compliance and regulatory environments.
Familiarity with OT/ICS security, network architecture, and cloud security.
Experience with incident response, threat intelligence, and vulnerability management.
Strong understanding of risk management and business continuity planning.
Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully leading complex, multi‑national projects.
Ability to function successfully both independently and within a team.
Willingness to travel internationally as required to meet with clients and governing bodies (up to 25% or as needed).
