We are seeking an experienced Highway Engineer to lead and manage transportation projects within our Baltimore Highway Group. This role involves technical leadership, project management, and client coordination for complex roadway and multimodal transportation projects across the Mid-Atlantic region and nationally. Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of highway and transportation projects, including:

Roadway alignments, geometric design, and roadside safety Multi-modal facilities (pedestrian, bicycle, transit) Maintenance of traffic and construction staging plans

Prepare and review construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports Ensure compliance with AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT standards Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders Support business development through proposal preparation and client presentations Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program Must be certified as a Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland or able to obtain within 6 months through comity from another state Must have 11-15 years of relevant job experience related to highway engineering Experience with design software tools such as MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads and AutoCAD preferred Experience designing and managing highway tasks and projects and preparing contract documents Knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and other relevant highway design guidelines, criteria, and standards required; knowledge of MDOT SHA guidelines, criteria, and standards preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to handle multiple assignments Benefits: WRA recognizes that employees play an important role in its success. The expected annual compensation range for this position is $100,000.00 - $180,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
