Position Details: Sterile Processing Technician- Moses Lake, WA Location : Moses Lake, WA 98837 Project Duration : 13 weeks Pay range : $35/hr - $40/hr Shift : Day Shift 40 hours/week

Position Summary This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of sterilization and the proper processing of supplies, instruments, and equipment in accordance with accreditation and Quality Control Standards. This role also functions as a substitute Central Stores employee during hours when those departments are closed. The individual must fully understand the purpose and operations of Perioperative Services and demonstrate strong judgment when making decisions in various situations.

Essential Functions Maintain documentation for all methods and adhere to recall procedures. Operate washer sterilizer, ultrasonic, Sterrad, EO, and Steam sterilizers per manufacturer guidelines. Ensure quality control and process cleaning standards. Perform AM/PM checks to replenish supplies and manage biohazard bins. Maintain loaner instruments and follow IFUs and tracking per SPD guidelines. Maintain and follow all IFUs. Clean all flexible scopes. Test and review all instruments/sets to ensure proper function before use. Tape instruments according to AAMI and AORN recommendations. Communicate with all on-site and off-site departments to meet their needs. Maintain knowledge of where to send equipment for repairs. Understand and follow the IUSS (Immediate Use Steam Sterilization) process. Ensure all QA tests are completed per IFU, AAMI, AORN, and hospital processes. Maintain professional growth through seminars, workshops, and affiliations. Follow safe work practices (MSDS, infection control, fire, safe lifting, body mechanics, etc.) to prevent injury. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and labor agreements. Maintain courteous and efficient interactions with team members and support departments. Conduct self in a professional manner and maintain appropriate appearance. Perform additional duties as assigned in accordance with organizational standards.

Education & Experience Education: High school diploma or GED required. Certification: CST, IAHCSMM, or NICHSPOP certification preferred. Basic Life Support (Heart saver) required within three (3) months of hire. Experience: One (1) year of SPD, surgery, or related experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies: Knowledge of inventory control principles and sterile techniques. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Strong time management skills. Ability to research new equipment sterilization procedures. Knowledge of numeric filing systems preferred. Meditech experience preferred. Competency on all department-specific equipment. Strong critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills. Demonstrates accountability and safe decision-making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines. Ability to care for customers/patients across all age groups.

Physical Requirements Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, and pulling. Manual dexterity required. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Good reading eyesight with full visual acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, and color perception. Ability to communicate clearly using verbal and written skills with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and the public.
