We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant. This role offers exposure to a variety of accounting functions and provides the opportunity to work collaboratively within a team while also managing responsibilities independently. The ideal candidate will have public accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office.
OVERVIEW OF THE STAFF ACCOUNTANT ROLE: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare trial balances The Staff Accountant will assist with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll as needed Support the monthly closing process, including journal entry preparation Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements The Staff Accountant will provide financial documentation for banking or regulatory purposes as required Conduct financial analysis and communicate findings to management Review accounts for accuracy, proper recordkeeping, and compliance with budget guidelines Organize and maintain company financial records and documentation Assist with reconciliations, including CAM or other property-related accounts Prepare ad-hoc reports and support special projects as assigned The Staff Accountant will perform accurate and timely data entry tasks Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by the Controller / CFO PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF THE STAFF ACCOUNTANT ROLE: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field 1-2 years of public accounting experience, preferably with a smaller firm, with exposure to audit and trial balance preparation Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience with financial/accounting management systems; experience with ProSystem fx Tax, Yardi, or similar software is a plus Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision
