Project Accountant
Chicago, IL | Hybrid (3 Days Onsite) Salary: $90,000-$105,000 (plus bonus) Our client, a nationally recognized architecture and design firm, is seeking a
Project Accountant
to support project financials, cost tracking, lien waivers, and reporting for high-visibility design and construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, award-winning organization known for innovation, community impact, and a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
What You'll Do
As the
Project Accountant , you'll manage financial activity for assigned projects and work closely with project managers, architects, and cross-functional teams. Key responsibilities include: Set up and maintain project budgets, track costs, and perform profitability analysis
Process subcontractor invoices, payments, and client billing
Manage and verify lien waivers to ensure compliance and reduce financial risk
Compile and validate payment application packages
Maintain accurate financial documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements and local regulations
Support contract compliance and provide ongoing financial reporting and analysis
This role reports to the Controller, who reports to the CFO, offering strong visibility within the accounting and finance organization.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of experience as a
project accountant.
Architecture, engineering, design, or construction industry experience strongly preferred
Strong lien waiver experience (required)
Excellent Excel and systems proficiency
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strong communicator
Stable work history
