MANTECH - Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) Systems Engineer
Position located in Washington D.C. Navy Yard. This is a
Hybrid
role requiring at least
3 days on site and 2 days remote per week .
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Nimitz and Ford Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Aviation System Engineering Manager (SEM).
Collaborate with SUPSHIP Newport News to address AIMD system issues.
Provide written responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), and Nuclear Liaison Action Request (NLAR).
Address technical issues with ship modernization efforts executed via Ship Change Documents (SCDs) and support development of new SCDs.
Collect and issue Aviation Systems Government Furnished Information (GFI) packages to Newport News Shipbuilding.
Review technical data packages, engineering drawings, reports, logistics materials, and training deliverables; provide written technical recommendations.
Evaluate procurement, ship, and systems specifications and submit written proposals for change.
Minimum Qualifications
High school Diploma.
10+ years of experience with aviation intermediate maintenance department (AIMD) aboard aircraft carriers or large deck amphibious ships.
Former active duty US Navy Aviation Limited Duty Officer (LDO), Chief Warrant Officer (CWO), or Chief Petty Officer (CPO).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
Experience working within NAVSEA 05.
Experience interfacing with non-technical leadership.
Previous work experience with or at a shipyard, Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC), SUPSHIP, RMC, TYCOM, or similar organizations in support of construction, maintenance, modernization, or repair of shipboard airwing systems.
Clearance Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active or current Secret security clearance.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Must be able to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, and exchange accurate information effectively.
