Overview
The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) seeks qualified Police Officers to join a team of over 460 employees committed to community‑based policing. Officers respond to emergency and non‑emergency calls, conduct preliminary criminal investigations, and plan special events.
Responsibilities
Respond to both emergency and non‑emergency calls for service.
Conduct preliminary criminal investigations.
Plan and execute special events.
Collaborate with regional, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Work a 15‑day fixed shift as a patrol officer, with two weekends off per month.
Maintain performance standards and earn additional pay for certifications.

Minimum Requirements
Education : 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of accredited college coursework, or qualifying substitutions (law‑enforcement or military experience).

Screening for minimum qualifications.
Written examination.
Character/background investigation, including photographing and fingerprinting.
Panel interview.
Polygraph examination.
Stress test / Chest X‑ray.
Psychological evaluation.
Drug testing.
Medical examination.
Salary As of July 1, 2026, the starting salary for Arlington County Police Officers will be $90,012, and the starting salary for lateral officers will be up to $103,330.
