Our client is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its commercial operations through the negotiation and management of a variety of business agreements. This hybrid role, based in Detroit, involves partnering with cross‑functional teams to manage legal risk and enable efficient deal execution.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including EPC, Supply, and Tolling agreements.
Work with Sales to structure commercially viable, risk‑balanced deals.
Participate in customer negotiations and internal contract approvals.
Manage contracts from negotiation through execution, implementation, and closeout.
Monitor key terms, obligations, amendments, and renewals to ensure compliance.
Conduct post‑signature risk assessments and apply learnings to future contracts.
Support Project Management with contractual interpretation, issue resolution, and change orders.
Oversee warranty obligations, SLAs, and other post‑installation commitments.
Develop and maintain standard templates, playbooks, and contracting processes.
Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to strengthen governance and risk frameworks.
Contribute to the scaling of legal operations as the business grows.
Qualifications
J.D. and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
5‑8 years of experience in commercial contracting, preferably in energy, infrastructure, or technology.
Strong background in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
Proven ability to balance commercial objectives with legal and risk considerations.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
In‑house counsel experience preferred.
Experience with EPC and system integration contracts strongly preferred.
