General Summary The Automotive SoC Architecture team is responsible for defining SoC product architecture for Qualcomm’s Automotive Compute business covering In-vehicle Infotainment (IVI), the Digital Cockpit, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Autonomous Driving (AD). The team's mission involves synthesizing higher‑level roadmap, product, customer, and system requirements into generalized, scalable architectural requirements and solutions. This involves both deep technical contribution and significant collaboration with the wider engineering and product management teams.

Role Description A successful candidate will perform hands‑on technical contribution and engage collaboratively with the other SoC & IP architects, designers, systems engineers, and software engineers to develop high‑performance, cost‑effective and scalable SoC architectures & solutions enabling market‑leading Automotive Compute SoC products. In this highly visible and collaborative role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to innovate, lead and deliver architectural solutions which will have significant impact on the technical direction and competitiveness of Qualcomm’s Automotive Compute products.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 6+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience
2+ years of experience in one or more system architecture technology areas and products (e.g., Power System, Shared Resource Management, Limits/Thermal Management, Hardware Islands)
Preferred Qualifications
BS degree in EE/ECE/CE/CS or related field required; MS or PhD highly desired
7+ years of SoC/IP architecture or micro‑architecture/front‑end‑design experience
Candidates with primarily a micro‑architecture/design background must have contributions that demonstrate higher‑level analysis and design
Experience In The Below Area Is Highly Preferred
Automotive SoC or IP design or architecture
Safety, reliability, and high‑resilience/high‑availability systems
High‑performance real‑time/deadline‑driven systems
Functional Safety and Automotive standards and protocols (e.g., AUTOSAR, NCAP, ISO26262)
SoC architectures including heterogeneous compute, NoC, memory‑systems, multicore, multi‑die, cache hierarchies, I/O, coherency, security
Performance optimization techniques
Security architecture & standards (e.g., TrustZone, OSEK, SAE J3601, ISO21434)
Operating Systems and RTOS
Arm CPU and system architecture (e.g., Cortex‑A, Cortex‑R)
Microcontroller (MCUs) and electronic control unit (ECUs) architecture
Gateways & Networking (e.g., Ethernet, CAN)
Memory technologies (e.g., LPDDR)
Storage architecture (e.g., NANDFlash, NORFlash, SPI)
High‑speed I/O (USB, PCIe)
Behavioral and performance modeling
Experience Preferred
Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with ability to convey proposals and interact effectively across a distributed multi‑discipline organization
Strong foundation of silicon design principles and architectural trade‑offs
Ability to span and connect levels of abstraction across system‑design, high‑level languages, OS, HW/SW interface, micro‑architecture, and silicon implementation
Background in architecture (IP or SoC), and/or front‑end design/verification (micro‑architecture)
Demonstrated deep technical knowledge and achievements at the SoC, sub‑system or large IP levels as micro‑architect or architect
Ability to apply appropriate abstractions and quantitative analysis for problem definition and solutions
Experience in using, improving, and developing a variety of tools for analysis, such as functional and performance simulators, profilers, cache analyzers, etc.
Programming ability for modeling and automation (OO Python or C++ preferred)
Ability and desire to develop and improve architecture methodologies for experiments and analysis

Pay Range & Benefits Salary:
$179,000.00 – $268,400.00 (location‑based). Additional compensation includes discretionary bonus and RSU grants. Competitive benefits package available.
