Senior DevOps Engineer

– ECS, Fairfax, VA

Job Description ECS is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to work in our Fairfax, VA office. The role is part of a program building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). You will design, build, deploy, operate, and maintain a complete “Data Services” solution that collects, normalizes, visualizes, and shares cyber data from over 100 Federal agencies.

As a member of a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) team, you’ll collaborate with developers, testers, infrastructure engineers, SREs, and other stakeholders to accelerate the path from development to operations. You will design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate release processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Create, monitor, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliability and efficiency.

Design and maintain continuous integration and deployment systems, integrating automated testing and security scanning.

Document processes and provide DevSecOps best‑practice guidance to team members.

Work closely with cross‑functional teams to identify efficiency gains and implement improvements.

Required Skills

6+ years of experience as a Release Engineer, CI/CD Engineer, or DevOps Engineer.

6+ years building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines that include automated testing and security scanning.

Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Argo, Travis CI, etc.).

4+ years using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

4+ years programming or scripting (Python, Bash).

Proficient in version control and branching strategies.

Experience logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting pipelines.

Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Collaborative skill in cross‑functional teams.

Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.

Proactive, detail‑oriented approach to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.

Desired Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Experience in Agile/SAFe using ALM tools (Jira, Confluence).

Expertise with configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

Infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

Deep understanding of networking, security, and Linux system administration.

Experience supporting large Federal programs ($200M+).

Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
