Affirm . You will lead our growing Data and Storage Services organization, especially the Orchestration Services team.

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest.

The Data and Storage Services team handles all of affirm’s data (OLAP/OLTP) requirements, ranging from online checkout databases to batch orchestration, streaming infrastructure, event‑driven frameworks, BI, and analytics tools.

Our mission is to provide trustworthy, intuitive, and cost‑efficient solutions for affirmers to store, analyze, and transform data at exceptional scale.

What You’ll Do

Lead a team of engineers and managers with empathy while fostering a high‑performance, ownership‑driven & inclusive culture.

Oversee storage services teams managing relational, key‑value, and analytics storage infrastructure at scale.

Understand and drive business and engineering metrics, promoting reliability, security, and productivity.

Collaborate with tech leads, program managers, and other engineering managers on security, tools, architecture, planning, and delivery of concurrent projects.

Work across the engineering organization and with internal and external partners.

Provide leadership, growth opportunities, mentorship, recruitment, and represent affirmative hiring brands.

Lead technical decisions, projects, and roadmaps within the batch and streaming teams.

Collaborate with peers, leadership, and stakeholders across platform and product engineering.

Develop a multiyear roadmap to design and implement frameworks, services, and tools for new products and business needs.

Guide, tutor, and aid in the professional growth of junior and senior engineers.

What We Look For

Solid leadership and interpersonal skills.

10+ years of experience managing diverse and inclusive teams and delivering large cross‑functional technical programs.

Proven stakeholder management, ownership, and delivery track record.

Expertise in managing large‑scale distributed compute and data processing systems, including data lake solutions and workflow orchestration frameworks.

Experience scaling frameworks like Spark, Flink, Kafka on Kubernetes, and cloud providers such as AWS, leveraging storage systems such as S3 and Apache Iceberg.

Mentorship, cross‑functional project execution, and individual contribution ability.

Strong communication skills with a growth mindset.

Experience in the data infrastructure domain and passion for leading technical teams and contributing to open source.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Compensation Pay Grade – R Equity Grade – 15

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental, and vision for you and your dependents).

USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $260,000–$310,000. USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $232,000–$282,000.
