About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to serve as a lead developer on enterprise software applications supporting internal teams, claimants, agency customers, and insureds. This role involves designing, developing, implementing, and supporting software products with a focus on rapid delivery of stable and scalable solutions. You will analyze existing applications for inefficiencies, manage security risks, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while shaping overall software architecture and design.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of software solutions that meet quality and performance standards.
Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning and retrospectives.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand functional and non-functional requirements.
Create and maintain documentation for code, APIs, and software features.
Participate in code reviews and utilize collaborative programming techniques to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 4 years of professional software development experience.
Proficiency in C#, .NET, SQL, and experience with APIs.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps).
Strong communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts.
Basic knowledge of database management systems (SQL, NoSQL).
Attention to detail and ability to identify, isolate, and document defects.
Understanding of software development lifecycles and DevOps/CI/CD principles.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building APIs for internal and external products.
Knowledge of property casualty rating and policy coverages.
Working knowledge of Guidewire or similar insurance platforms.
