As a Sales and Use Tax Manager assigned to EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you’ll build and apply your knowledge on a wide range of sales and use tax recovery projects for clients in multiple industries. The opportunity Our Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review COE is a national team which leads large multi‑state sales and use tax recovery projects for EY’s largest clients. It’s here you’ll find everything you need to continue to develop as a multi‑state, sales and use tax practitioner. It’s all about taking on new skills and responsibilities as they arise and making the most of our dedicated mentors and training programs.
Your Key Responsibilities
Work on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities, and tasks; provide up‑to‑the‑minute tax advice that clients can rely on.
Collaborate in a highly collaborative culture, sharing information and listening to colleagues.
Skills And Attributes For Success
Research clients’ business operations and build long‑lasting relationships.
Identify applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions.
Detect potential overpayment opportunities or risks and communicate them to clients.
Monitor current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries.
Prepare and defend sales and use tax refund claims.
Participate in a motivated team of professionals.
Manage a motivated team, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach their full potential.
To qualify for the role you must have
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools.
Experience managing budgets, people, and projects.
A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes.
Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment.
You’ll also have
An achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or state bar membership.

Comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Base salary range for all geographic locations in the US: $105,100 to $192,600. (Ranges for specific markets also provided.) Includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
Hybrid work model: Expect to work in person 40‑60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
Flexible vacation policy: Choose how much vacation time you need; additional time off for EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence.
