This is a full-time on-site role for a
Civil Engineer , based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The position is ideal for candidates with strong technical expertise in civil, site, and infrastructure design who are passionate about supporting the deployment of next-generation clean energy systems. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, and coordination of site development, foundations, and infrastructure for Hadron Energy’s micro modular reactor (MMR) installations. This individual will work closely with structural, mechanical, and regulatory teams to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and regulatory standards across diverse deployment environments. You will play a key role in shaping Hadron’s site engineering strategy—developing scalable, standardized civil and structural designs that support rapid, factory-built deployment of modular nuclear power systems worldwide. Responsibilities
Lead and support
site design, grading, drainage, and foundation engineering
for microreactor deployments Develop
civil design drawings, specifications, and reports
in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Conduct
geotechnical and site feasibility assessments
for new reactor locations Design and analyze
foundations, support pads, and structural interfaces
between the reactor module and site infrastructure Coordinate with environmental and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with
local, state, and federal permitting requirements Support
transportation, logistics, and constructability planning
for modular system deployment Review and interpret survey data, topographic maps, and geotechnical reports Collaborate with structural and architectural teams on integrated plant layouts Interface with contractors and engineering partners during construction and installation phases Prepare and maintain documentation for design packages, project approvals, and regulatory submittals Contribute to internal design reviews and risk assessments to ensure safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness Qualifications & Skillsets
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline 5+ years of experience in
site development, civil design, or infrastructure engineering Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one is strongly preferred Proficiency in
civil and structural design software
(AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD Pro, or similar tools) Knowledge of
geotechnical principles, concrete and steel design, and construction methods Familiarity with
ASCE, ACI, and AISC standards
and local building codes Experience with
permitting, environmental impact, and site compliance processes Strong understanding of
drainage, utility coordination, and grading design Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional engineering environment Passion for sustainable infrastructure and advancing clean, reliable nuclear energy Seniority level
