Location: Remote inside the US
Team: 200+ person AI-driven FinTech platform with multiple specialized product lines
We are seeking a Director of Applied AI/AI Engineering for an AI-native Fintech company building finance-tuned generative AI systems that power personalized financial guidance at scale. Their platform blends proprietary LLMs, specialized financial datasets, and a high-velocity engineering culture to ship production-ready products in months. They already have a track record of building and exiting AI-first businesses and are partnered with global, household name financial services firms.
We’re hiring a Director of Applied AI / AI Engineering to lead technical execution across multiple GenAI product tracks while remaining hands‑on with frontier model development, agentic system design, and large-scale LLM optimization.
This role is ideal for a senior AI leader who enjoys architecting complex systems and still loves building, fine‑tuning, experimenting, and shipping.
Responsibilities:
Design multi-agent, agentic workflows capable of autonomous planning, tool use, and cross-system coordination.
Architect orchestrators handling multi-turn reasoning, task decomposition, and secure action execution.
Fine-tune proprietary and open-source models using domain-specific corpora.
Build Advanced RAG Systems.
Apply RL techniques (PPO, DPO, GRPO) to continuously optimize LLM behavior.
Build automated evaluation harnesses and reward models to ensure reliability and alignment.
We’re looking for a highly technical leader who has shipped real GenAI products:
7–12+ years in AI/ML engineering, with significant time spent on LLM-driven systems.
Track record of shipping agentic or multi-agent systems into production.
Ability to design systems that operate within real-world FinTech constraints (security, compliance, data governance).
Experience leading small teams or technical programmes while staying deeply hands-on.
High adaptability, first-principles problem solving, and bias toward rapid iteration.
Deep experience with LLM fine-tuning (LoRA, QLoRA, adapters, PEFT).
Building complex RAG systems at scale.
Startup experience — or the ability to operate at startup speed inside a structured environment — is a major plus.
