Job Summary The Director, Data Governance will spearhead the development, implementation, and management of enterprise‑level data governance strategies. This critical role will oversee multiple facets of the Data Governance Program.
Responsibilities
Craft and implement a holistic data governance strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and industry best practices.
Establish and enforce data quality standards, policies, and procedures to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implement robust data protection mechanisms.
Partner with business units, IT teams, and data owners to define data governance roles, responsibilities, and foster a culture of data ownership.
Oversee metadata repositories, ensuring effective data lineage, data dictionaries, and data catalogs.
Design and maintain a data governance framework that includes data classification, access controls, and life cycle management.
Identify and train data stewards to monitor and ensure data quality and compliance across the organization.
Assess, select, and deploy data governance tools and platforms to optimize data management processes.
Prepare and present regular reports on data governance performance and compliance to senior leadership.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data governance, proactively recommending enhancements to the program.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business operations, data management, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in data governance, with a proven track record of establishing and managing new data governance programs.
Expertise in defining data governance roles and responsibilities within an enterprise, leading Data Governance Committees, and championing the data program to internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in managing data lineage, data mapping, creating data dictionaries and glossaries, and developing metrics.
Proficiency in System Query Language (SQL) is essential.
Experience with data tools such as Collibra, Alation, Snowflake, Informatica Data Quality, and/or Azure Data factory, SQL, Store Procs is a plus.
