Job Description We are seeking a Catering Manager to join our award‑winning team. This position is responsible for managing new and existing accounts to ensure all revenue goals (food and beverage and room rentals) are achieved or exceeded. Solicit business and participate in organizations relevant to the specific market assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for achieving assigned goals in food, beverage, room rental, and ancillary charges.

Responds to inquiries in a timely manner, qualifying the opportunity, quoting availability, prices, and payment terms.

Responsible for soliciting new and repeat clients, based on information from news articles, business directories, and other publications.

Creates bookings in Amadeus/Delphi. Prepares and executes Catering sales contracts. Obtains signatures, advance deposits, and a certificate of insurance.

Meets with clients to gather all event details, discusses menus, wines, bar, room set‑up arrangements, audio visual, and all other needs.

Prepares detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEO), obtains client approvals and signatures.

Coordinates distribution of BEOs in accordance with the predetermined weekly schedule.

Participates in weekly BEO meetings to communicate all required information, including changes, revisions, updates, and cancellations to the various departments involved in servicing the accounts.

Coordinates with outside vendors such as florists, music providers, bakeries, etc., to ensure proper timing of deliveries.

Meets with the client before the function, introduces them to the food and beverage manager, and ensures that all expectations are being met.

Compiles all pertinent Catering reports as assigned.

All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

Able to communicate with clients in a friendly and positive manner in order to solicit business, meet clients needs and resolve complaints.

Able to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to write Catering reports and business correspondences and memorandums.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.

Ability to calculate figures and sales amounts, such as discounts and Catering Sales volume.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Meets legal age requirements for the position.

Education / Experience Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from college or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Prior Catering Sales or Banquet experience is preferred.

Certificates, Registrations, Licenses Valid California Driver License is required. Food Handler certification required.

Pay Scale The rate for this position is $34.00 to $40.00 per hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual wage rates will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, and education.
