Overview
Our client, an insurance company downtown Chicago’s is seeking a Senior Accountant (lead role) to join its close-knit financial reporting team. The role supports multiple U.S. entities and has growing global visibility within the organization. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with solid insurance experience who enjoys reporting, close, and special project work. Base pay range
$115,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities
Manage quarterly and annual statutory reporting for multiple U.S. entities, including Yellow Book and Schedule P preparation Oversee month- and quarter-end close for legal entities Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany settlements Support financial reporting, analysis, and internal control activities under U.S. GAAP, and statutory frameworks Participate in ledger conversions, process improvement, and special projects Collaborate with internal and global teams on reporting and audit matters Contribute to policy documentation, data transfer accuracy, and regulatory submissions Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or Master’s preferred 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience in insurance (P&C or reinsurance required) Strong background in close and reporting; exposure to statutory accounting Experience with general ledger systems, reconciliations, and financial controls Public accounting background and/or experience leading projects a plus Excellent communication and collaboration skills Work Setup / Location
Hybrid schedule: two days onsite weekly with occasional third day as needed. Office located in Chicago Compensation
Likely will land in the 115-125k range + bonus + comprehensive benefits including strong retirement contributions. Hours
Typical workload is 40–45 hours weekly, rising during quarter close. Employment type
