Data Engineer 2 (Hybrid - Seattle, WA)

Join Nordstrom’s Store Selling Insights Delivery Team where we deliver data and insights that enable analysts, scientists, leaders, store personnel, and other stakeholders to drive customer experiences in real time. As a Data Engineer 2 you will own the design and development of highly scalable software applications, services, data pipelines, and database solutions while applying scientific and engineering principles to deliver on Nordstrom’s strategic vision.

Hybrid Work Policy:

This role is offered as hybrid in Seattle, WA. Candidates must be available to work in the Nordstrom corporate headquarters office a minimum of 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable and durable data analytical solutions using modern technologies.

Understand the specific needs of key business lines and their related systems and functions.

Build distributed data processing pipelines in the cloud, applying data modeling, structures, and infrastructure best practices.

Own code reviews and enforce software engineering principles.

Create testing tools and CI/CD pipelines to reduce automation friction.

Identify and resolve data performance and quality issues; optimize solutions.

Perform on‑going production support and on‑call duties, collaborating with onsite and offshore resources.

Manage cost savings, production notifications, alerts, and logging dashboards.

Collaborate with product managers, analysts, scientists, and other tech teams to deliver effective self‑service BI solutions.

Communicate clearly and efficiently with partner teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

3+ years of experience with a modern programming language such as Java or Python.

2+ years of experience with databases, SQL, data modeling, data mining, and automated engineering solutions; familiarity with GCP BigQuery or Teradata is a plus.

Experience with cloud environments such as AWS and GCP.

Experience building near‑real‑time distributed data processing solutions using Kafka, Flink, Spark, Kubernetes, and Airflow.

Experience with scalable distributed systems, service‑oriented and event‑driven streaming architecture.

Proficiency with best practices for data engineering and operational excellence.

Pay Range $121,500.00 – $188,500.00 Annual (specific to Seattle, WA). Eligible for performance‑based incentives/bonuses.
