Our client, a global leader in advanced propulsion technologies, is seeking an experienced
R&D Director
to establish and lead U.S. research, development, and industrialization activities across hybrid systems, internal combustion engines, e-drive components, and emerging clean propulsion platforms.
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for building U.S. engineering capability, driving alignment with major OEM customers, and ensuring successful delivery of product development and launch programs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead U.S. R&D strategy aligned with global technology roadmaps
Build and develop the U.S. engineering organization, labs, tools, and competencies
Oversee product development from concept through validation and industrialization
Serve as senior technical interface to U.S. OEMs, leading engineering alignment and issue resolution
Ensure readiness for industrialization and launch at U.S. manufacturing sites
Lead and develop a high-performing R&D team
Manage R&D budget, resources, testing assets, and technical governance
Ideal Profile
12+ years in automotive, powertrain, hybrid/EV systems, or Tier-1 engineering
Strong leadership of multifunctional engineering teams
Direct experience working with OEM engineering organizations
Expertise in one or more: ICE, hybrid systems, e-motor, inverter, transmission, EDU, calibration, NVH, or thermal systems
Strong systems engineering, validation, and industrialization background
Fluent English; Chinese/Spanish a plus
