NURSING EDUCATION SUPERVISOR CI Director of Education and Training

LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, Jessup, MD

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB This position is a supervisory level role that provides nursing instruction and in‑service training to licensed nursing and other staff at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center (CTPHC). Duties are performed at CTPHC where care is provided to mentally ill patients who have been committed to MDH – CTPHC for committing felonies, and to those who are difficult to manage in a less secure setting and who have been deemed dangerous to themselves or others. The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating the overall employee education program at CTPHC and performs the full range of duties and responsibilities under general supervision. Infection control precautions must be observed. The position may require lifting patients or applying physical restraints and may involve long periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching, as well as non‑day‑shift hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES Provide nursing instruction and in‑service training to licensed nursing and other staff. Design, implement, and evaluate employee education programs. Observe infection control precautions, lift patients or apply restraints as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.

MAIN QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

A Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited institution.

Experience :

Three years as a Registered Nurse, including two years as an instructor in a psychiatric setting.

Note :

U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in nursing classifications can be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with an effective learning management system (LMS) and leadership experience.

Experience in forensic psychiatric nursing.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a current multi‑state license in the priority state of residence.

Motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland for duties requiring a motor vehicle.

Current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Employees may be required to provide a phone number at which they can be reached due to call‑in duties.
