Assistant Dean, College of Graduate Studies – Bridgewater State University Bridgewater State University is seeking an experienced and innovative academic leader to serve as the next Dean of the College of Graduate Studies. The Dean will be a member of the Division of Academic Affairs leadership team, providing strategic vision for continued innovative growth in graduate education for regional workforce development, global engagement and personal and professional advancement. The College serves approximately 1,500 students and offers more than 60 graduate, licensure and certificate programs across education, health professions, arts and sciences, and business, many of which are nationally accredited. In 2024 the college awarded 460 master’s degrees and more than 70 graduate certificates, CAGS and specialist degrees. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and academic partners to identify new academic opportunities, support the growth of existing programs, and commit to diversity, equity and belonging. The role includes supervision of an administrative office team and supports the recent renovation of a historic house as the new home of the college.

Salary Range: $160,000 – $170,000.

Responsibilities

Own and lead graduate program development, review, revision and assessment, including the national accreditation process.

Provide significant and direct administrative responsibility for graduate programs and students, sustaining student success.

Recruit and manage enrollment at the graduate level, ensuring effective enrollment management.

Collaborate with faculty, administrators, staff, and external constituencies while upholding highest levels of personal integrity.

Drive graduate program development, shared governance, and national accreditation.

Identify, lead and grow collaborations with regional employers to meet workforce development needs.

Communicate effectively, demonstrating creativity, innovation, and strategic vision.

Support diversity, inclusion and equity initiatives and work with diverse student populations.

Maintain awareness of higher‑education practices and trends, including demographic trends and curriculum impacts.

Qualifications

Earned doctorate and more than 5 years of academic administrative experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role such as Dean, Associate Dean, Chair or Graduate Director.

Demonstrated effectiveness in graduate program development, accreditation and shared governance.

Strong commitment to public higher education, liberal arts and student success.

Commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity with experience working with diverse student populations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience leading regional employer collaborations and workforce development initiatives.
