Job Summary We are seeking a Clinical Nurse II for our Duke Children’s Specialty Creekstone clinic located in Durham, NC to join the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Perform patient intake including vital signs (manual blood pressures), administering survey tools, conducting educational assessments for patients/guardians, medication review, assisting patients with preparing questions for provider visits, and helping patients with ambulation/toileting.
Complete procedural tasks such as administering specialty medication injections, teaching patients how to self‑administer injections, insulin administration/verification, oral medications per protocol and provider orders; perform full assessments as needed; monitor patients for reactions to therapy; provide patient/family education for specialty injections; bill for nursing procedures; assist with clinic procedures—joint injections, IUD/Nexplanon insertion/removal; recognize and troubleshoot inconsistencies in patient response; report to provider; perform EKG, POCT, assist with prior authorizations and triage as available.
Document all activities in the electronic health record.
Participate in professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking educational opportunities.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Eligibility Requirements
Graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
Registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or higher) must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and complete it within five years of their start date.
At least 12 months of appropriate clinical experience.
At least 12 months of pediatric experience.
Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina and BLS certification.
