San Francisco Compute Company
We're building the company that will de-risk the largest infrastructure build‑out in history. When people finance GPU clusters, the datacenters housing them, and the infrastructure powering them, they need “offtake”—a contract to lease the cluster before it is built. Financing a GPU cluster is inherently risky because margins are thin and volumes are huge. Lenders avoid the risk that cluster developers can’t repay; developers avoid the risk of not selling their cluster. As a result, risk is offloaded to customers through fixed‑price long‑term contracts. This is not SaaS; application layer companies sign multi‑year contracts for compute and inference but sell on monthly subscriptions. A small startup can’t sign a 5‑year take‑or‑pay contract on $100M supercomputers; they may only buy the liquidity that others sell back on the market. Our platform creates a liquid market for GPU offtake.
About The Role As a Product Engineer at SFC, you’ll build products that together de‑risk the largest infrastructure build‑out in history. You’ll work cross‑functionally to build complex, tasteful user interfaces.
Responsibilities
Own new user‑facing features across our public cloud, market, and other products.
Ensure an exceptional user experience through thoughtful UI/UX design, leveraging frameworks like React and Next.js.
Interact with developers at leading AI startups and labs to implement features from idea to production that directly address their needs.
Collaborate closely with systems engineers, trading engineers, GTM, finance, and others to achieve successful business outcomes.
When necessary, make measured technical tradeoffs—know when to ship fast and break things versus code with care.
Qualifications
Excellent taste and high attention to detail in crafting user experiences.
Expert in React development or equivalent, including modern patterns (hooks, context, suspense) and server/client runtime component structure.
Experience independently shipping end‑to‑end products in fast‑paced, high‑ownership environments.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Deep empathy for end customers and a drive to meet their needs by building the best product possible.
Bonus Points
Strong aesthetic taste.
Previously built public cloud features for developers (e.g., SSH key management, RBAC).
Built or maintained a CLI or other developer tools.
Worked with alternative JavaScript runtimes like Bun and Deno.
Benefits
Generous equity grant.
Competitive salary plus equity.
Visa sponsorships—yes, we sponsor visas and work permits.
401(k) matching up to 4%.
Medical, dental & vision insurance covering 100% of premiums for employees and dependents.
Unlimited paid time off and 10+ observed holidays.
Parental leave for biological, adoptive, and foster parents.
Daily lunch covered.
Unlimited office book budget.
