Job Description AECOM is seeking a
Rail Engineering Director
to work out of our
Seattle
office. This role is open to remote work.
Job Summary This role supports planning, sustainability, environmental, and engineering efforts from project conception through construction. It oversees design document consistency and compliance, advises on environmental strategy, ensures regulatory adherence, and collaborates with Construction and Rail Operations on system policies, station design, and alignments.
Job Responsibilities
Coordinate with the Client, Design Builders, PCM teams, and third‑party utilities or railroads; attend meetings, review project documents, report on discovered utility/railroad issues.
Report on discovered utility/railroad issues and participate in issue resolution.
Prepare status reports and maintain a tracking log for issues and resolutions.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency, including 4 years of leadership.
Preferred Requirements
Master’s degree in engineering, transportation, or related discipline.
25 years of relevant experience and 8 years of leadership.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience with high‑speed rail projects in a senior leadership capacity.
Familiarity with advanced rail maintenance technologies and sustainable design practices.
Experience working in multidisciplinary, multi‑stakeholder project environments.
Proven expertise in planning and managing large‑scale rail maintenance facilities.
Strong understanding of rail vehicle servicing operations and requirements.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, including FRA and California requirements.
Ability to prepare comprehensive technical documents and plans.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project coordination skills.
