Job Description The Associate Director of Project Management will be a member of the management team and will primarily support the Western Region and the California Cost Center 8140 in driving growth and profitability of the business unit into the San Francisco/Bay Area/Northern California (NorCal) region through leadership, new business development, client management and service delivery. The Associate Director will also serve as a Business Generation lead for the NorCal Region, leading localized marketing and communications strategy and new business development for both private and public sector.
Responsibility: Business Generation
Lead bid teams and run proposal generation efforts in concert with the business generation and senior management teams.
Partner with client-facing professionals to develop winning marketing strategies for new business development – supporting the strategy, development and production of custom proposals, bids, presentations, and other client deliverables.
Compile and vet existing materials and draft original content for proposals and client materials, identifying compelling copy, themes/concepts and salient points that demonstrate value and expertise.
Consistently engage with industry professionals (presentations, meetings, networking events, etc).
Identify and act upon cross‑selling opportunities. Work with Senior Management team to develop strategies which promote Turner & Townsend across the U.S.
Support key client/account management programs, working closely with the key client leads on localized marketing plans and cross‑selling opportunities aligned with project/revenue targets.
Manage the various business development and client databases (e.g., CMD) at the local level, ensuring staff are aware of them, use them properly and that the data within them is accurate.
Prepare and deliver client presentations on topics of relevant experience and knowledge and/or partner with other team members to generate new business.
Attend client interviews to present our service offerings.
Source and interview prospective candidates for the business.
Responsibility: Business Operations
Lead the project management team responsible for planning and executing projects in the NorCal region for the business.
Program manage the NorCal portfolio of projects including oversight of project management services, deliverables, and collaborations/resources.
Identify/diagnose client service delivery needs and the business team resources necessary to execute such services for value add results.
Financial Management – Utilize industry standard spreadsheets and accounting tools to track the ongoing margin levels, monthly fee/resource forecasts for each commission and financial reports, including budgeting.
Work with recruiting professionals to source, recruit, interview, and manage new talent to join the team for service delivery.
Provide effective line management for staff, including coaching and mentoring, to support their professional and career growth objectives.
Provide weekly updates regarding the status of projects, initiatives, and staffing, highlighting issues of concern and/or conflict where appropriate.
Ensure client invoices are accurate and issued on a timely basis, and follow up on accounts receivable.
Liaise with municipal authorities having jurisdiction over projects.
SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, where applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or a field related to construction.
Graduate degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering is preferred.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience working in a project management role in the construction A-E-C industry, including experience in business development and within the construction consultancy, advisory, architecture, or real estate industries.
Comprehensive knowledge of the construction consultancy/advisory business that adds value or strategically enhances deliverables and initiatives.
Ability to identify critical messages and unique selling points, and communicate them clearly and effectively.
Excellent project management, organizational and problem‑solving skills, with a proven ability to implement/enforce procedures and to influence at all levels.
Self‑starter with strong ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously to tight deadlines in a highly collaborative team environment.
Creative thinker capable of communicating complex ideas in a simple way, both written and verbally.
Experience managing client accounts effectively and efficiently.
Experience managing teams of individual project managers and support staff.
Strong knowledge of the local NorCal construction market.
Ability to develop strong relationships with internal team members, clients and cross‑functional team members.
Relevant technical and leadership experience overseeing major construction projects or programs.
Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, organizational and communication skills.
Additional Information The salary range for this full‑time role is $180K–$225K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
