The Director of Nursing (DON) at SuraMed Health Center plays a pivotal role in maintaining the standards and quality of care within our medical facilities. This position requires a hands‑on individual who is capable of leading a team of clinical staff including nurses, medical assistants and ancillary personnel to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the DON will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care in all areas of our health center.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Communicate with staff, administrators, and other medical professionals to ensure quality patient care.
Oversee nursing staff hiring, training, supervision and evaluation.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ascertain patient needs, develop care plans, and evaluate nursing care.
Manage the department budget including staff scheduling, payroll, and supply and equipment procurement.
Prepare regular reports for upper management on the status of the nursing department, challenges and proposed solutions.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited university is required. An active Registered Nurse license is mandatory.
A minimum of five years experience working in a management or supervisory role in a healthcare setting, preferably in a nursing facility.
Extensive clinical knowledge and familiarity with healthcare laws, regulations, and best practices.
Must possess excellent communication, leadership, problem‑solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build rapport with patients, their families and medical staff.
Strong managerial skills with the ability to make decisions and enforce policies and procedures.
