Principal Process Engineer – Wastewater Systems – Los Angeles, CA
Job Description The Wastewater Principal Process Engineer provides technical leadership and project management accountability for process engineering in the delivery of capital projects and engineering services for wastewater treatment facilities.
Primary responsibility includes providing process engineering services on client projects mainly in Southern California, with occasional travel across the state.
Responsibilities
Work effectively on water and wastewater engineering capital project teams and cross-functional teams with representatives from across the organization.
Plan and execute projects: including project approach and resource needs, options analysis, process and equipment design, engineering document development, and system ownership through the project delivery phases of plan, design, procure, construct, and commissioning.
Apply process expertise for complex capital projects within water and wastewater treatment, including conventional processes, membrane bioreactors (MBR), reverse osmosis desalination, brackish water treatment, UV, Ozone and other advanced processes.
Communicate ideas, project goals and results, making presentations and updates to senior management and broader forums internally and externally with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate strong technical leadership, collaboration, and sound business value‑based prioritization and problem solving skills.
Possibly travel to meet business needs.
The successful candidate will also provide additional design expertise for conventional and advanced wastewater treatment systems, including membrane, biosolids, odor control, pumping, blower, and various other systems.
Requirements
B.S. in Civil/Environmental or Chemical/Engineering or a related discipline, with 7+ years in the water and wastewater industry involving process design, performance analysis, or engineering services.
Experience with municipal wastewater systems is essential.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration is desirable but not required.
Demonstrated ability to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communication skills, and familiarity with state‑of‑the‑art industry practices and regulations.
Solid knowledge of process technology.
Security Clearance Requirement: None. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.
Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $100,900.00 - $176,600.00.
