As the Traveling Executive Director for Cedarhurst Senior Living, you will have the opportunity to connect with and positively impact the lives of residents daily. You will be responsible for ensuring the provision of quality nursing care in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations within Cedarhurst communities while filling the role of a vacant Executive Director position. In this role, you will support teams to optimize each resident’s well‑being and overall experience, oversee strategic planning and profitability, and be accountable for all operations and programs within the community you serve. You will also provide training and support to existing Executive Directors and seek to increase awareness of Cedarhurst Senior Living and its mission. This position requires frequent overnight travel. Essential Functions
Assist in providing additional training to existing Executive Directors to improve performance. Assist with Cedarhurst acquisitions and onboarding of new Executive Directors, ensuring they are trained in Cedarhurst policies and procedures. Serve as a mentor to existing Executive Directors and provide support to those struggling in their roles. Deliver excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, including group presentations. Demonstrate experience in staffing, leading, developing, and retaining a strong team. Exhibit a warm, outgoing, compassionate personality with a positive outlook toward change and improvement. Manage employee and resident relations issues effectively. Handle confidential information, PHI, and comply with HIPAA guidelines. Maintain strong organizational skills, multi‑tasking ability, and attention to detail. Be self‑motivated with a strong sense of accountability for results. Possess superior analytical, project management, and organizational skills. Maintain professional curiosity and a desire to learn and recommend solutions to problems. Remain calm in stressful situations, adapt to interruptions, and multi‑task efficiently. Enjoy interacting with older adults while promoting high levels of customer service, hospitality, curiosity, and friendliness to all residents, visitors, and staff. While serving in an Executive Director vacancy:
Meet or exceed budget and performance goals. Oversee day‑to‑day operations including profit and loss, marketing, sales, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and workforce quality. Engage actively in sales and marketing, positioning the property competitively and meeting occupancy and revenue goals. Hire, orient, supervise, evaluate, review, and appropriately discipline subordinate staff. Perform conflict intervention and resolution for customers, families, employees, and affected parties. Manage three to five (3‑5) subordinate supervisors overseeing approximately 30‑50 employees across Housekeeping, Resident Care, Maintenance, Dietary, and Office.
The physical demands of the job include occasional standing, moving, communicating, and identifying written information; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 lbs independently, and up to 200 lbs with assistance. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. State‑required license/certification for operating an Assisted Living/Memory Care center is required. Licensure in good standing with the state. Five (5) years or more of experience in a senior care community with proven leadership and organizational skills preferred. At least one (1) year of management or supervision experience preferred. Ability to make business decisions that protect the company’s interests and employee welfare. Commitment to creating a professional environment reflecting the company’s vision and core values. Demonstrate competence with regulatory compliance and maintain that compliance. Provide servant‑leadership, effective listening, empathy, awareness, and persuasiveness. Walk or stand for extended periods and move throughout the community, resident apartments, and other areas. Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or balance. Communicate effectively and interpret written information. Lift up to fifty (50) pounds independently and up to 200 pounds with assistance. Follow infection prevention and control protocols, including PPE, when required. Participate actively in staff activities fostering teamwork, unity, and morale.
