is seeking a full‑time Academic Pediatric Hospitalist to join our growing team of hospitalists. This outstanding opportunity is at a 241‑bed tertiary care referral center with approximately 11,000 pediatric admissions per year in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are home to a large pediatrics residency program, 7 pediatric fellowship programs and a heavily involved faculty in teaching, quality improvement and research.
Responsibilities
Provide 24/7 in‑house coverage on academic resident and fellow run teams.
Lead academic resident teams on the inpatient and well‑newborn services.
Provide consultation and co‑management to surgical teams.
Round at our partnering inpatient pediatric rehabilitation center, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.
Handle newborn nursery responsibilities, including circumcisions; delivery attendance excluded given 24/7 NICU coverage.
Share in teaching medical students, residents and fellows at bedside and in the classroom.
Participate in quality improvement, administration, operations, and research projects.
Qualifications
Medical Degree (MD or DO).
Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Pediatrics; board‑eligible or certified in Pediatric Hospital Medicine preferred but not required.
Current medical license in Michigan.
Current State of Michigan and Federal Narcotics Licenses.
BLS, ACLS, PALS certification.
Experience with quality improvement or clinical research is desired.
Demonstrated excellence in clinical skills and passion for medical education.
Collaborative approach to caring for complex patients.
Academic Appointment Position includes an academic appointment with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine; academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
