Description Daily duties include procuring, ordering, receiving, billing and recharge transactions, managing inventory, drug recalls, and shortages. Use of Pyxis Automated dispensing Cabinets and reporting function to optimize clinic inventory. Perform contract and purchasing analysis to identify cost savings opportunities and optimize product standardization. Navigate and maintain contract compliance for standardization and contract savings across UCSD clinics. Serve as liaison with clinic users to support procurement activities implementation and disseminate cost‑effective supply chain best practices. Collaborate with the 340B team for ordering, price verification, contract compliance, 340B compliance and inventory management. Establish and maintain professional relationships with pharmaceutical wholesalers and vendors.
Minimum Qualifications
Seven (7) years of related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training. Experience related to Pharmacy Purchasing.
Analytical skills to evaluate quality and cost effectiveness of multiple complex purchasing options.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret terms and conditions of contracts.
Strong proficiency in standard spreadsheet and word processing software.
Knowledge of departments/operations to meet procurement needs.
Strong skills in ERP/financial systems (e.g., Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, Banner).
Preferred Qualifications
Pharmacy technician or CPhT license.
Hospital inpatient pharmacy experience.
Experience managing procurement/distribution for ambulatory care clinics.
Special Conditions
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
