THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE This role bridges mobile engineering, solution architecture, and platform enablement for enterprise-scale commerce experiences. As a Mobile Application Architect, you will contribute to the design and evolution of Ulta’s mobile platforms across iOS and Android, helping ensure applications are scalable, maintainable, and deliver a seamless experience for millions of users. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams spanning payments, identity, engagement, personalization, and content systems to build secure, performant, and feature-rich applications. You have hands‑on experience developing and integrating mobile solutions, understand mobile architectural patterns, and can translate business needs into technical design. You move comfortably between implementation and conceptual design, and you value clear documentation and team alignment.

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY

Partner with engineering, product, and platform teams to design and evolve Ulta’s mobile ecosystem.

Contribute to defining mobile architecture standards, patterns, and guidelines.

Collaborate with backend and API teams to ensure mobile‑first integration strategies.

Participate in technical design reviews and assist in solution planning for new mobile features.

Support the evaluation and adoption of modern mobile frameworks, SDKs, and tools.

Ensure mobile applications meet performance, reliability, and accessibility standards.

Advocate for maintainable code, modularization, and best practices in mobile app architecture (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture).

Collaborate with DevOps and QA to streamline CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release quality.

Produce clear architectural documentation and system diagrams to support development teams.

ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS

7‑10+ years of hands‑on mobile application development experience in iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin).

Prior experience as an application architect.

Experience contributing to application architecture or solution design for mid‑to‑large mobile apps.

Strong understanding of mobile design patterns such as MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, and modular application structure.

Familiarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and modern build systems (e.g., Gradle, Xcode Build, Fastlane).

Experience integrating with backend APIs using REST or GraphQL, and working with API platform teams.

Knowledge of performance tuning, mobile security fundamentals, offline experiences, and accessibility guidelines.

Ability to produce clear documentation, basic system diagrams, and articulate tradeoffs in architectural decisions.

Strong collaboration skills working closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers.

Curiosity about emerging mobile technologies, frameworks, and platform capabilities.

PREFERRED

Experience working in enterprise‑scale or high‑traffic consumer mobile applications.

Exposure to A/B testing frameworks, analytics instrumentation, or experimentation platforms.

Familiarity with feature flag systems (e.g., LaunchDarkly), remote config, or dynamic content frameworks.

Experience with e‑commerce, payments, identity/auth, or personalization features.

Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) or mobile backend services.

The pay range for this position is $119,300.00 - $179,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company’s bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs.
