Senior Assistant Superintendent – Jack Nicklaus Painted Valley Signature Golf Course
Promontory Club, a private luxury mountain club, located in Park City, Utah, is seeking a Senior Assistant Superintendent to help lead the maintenance and operations of the Jack Nicklaus Painted Valley Signature golf course. This is a hands‑on leadership role working closely with the Superintendent to deliver exceptional playing conditions and support ongoing course improvements.
About Promontory The Jack Nicklaus Signature course features a 8,098‑yard par‑72 championship golf course featuring undulated greens, wide rolling fairways, and a robust native area. In Fall of 2025, a full course bunker renovation began, expected to finish in the summer of 2026.
Promontory Club is a high‑end club which encompasses 11 square miles and features three golf courses: the Jack Nicklaus Painted Valley golf course, a Pete Dye Canyon course, and a newly opened Forrest Richardson 18‑hole par 3 course, along with an unmatched suite of luxury amenities. Promontory has earned national acclaim as a premier destination community where world‑class golf meets extraordinary mountain living.
Role and Responsibilities
Managing and training staff (5 year‑round and up to 30 seasonally)
Conducting morning job assignments and meetings using TaskTracker
Logging fertilizer applications, topdressing applications, and cultivation practices in Greenskeeper
Facilities daily practices such as course set up, hand watering, mowing, fertilizer applications, and large equipment operations
Has a working knowledge of irrigation, fertilization (granular and foliar), tractors, small equipment, and spreaders/spray rigs
Ensuring elite playing conditions, consistent from tee to green, and help achieve our goal of perpetual improvement
Winter work consists of snow removal (snowplows, tractors, snow blowers, and hand‑shoveling)
What we’re looking for: A motivated and organized leader, with an eye for detail, who enjoys problem solving, working in a team environment and strives to make course improvements and builds exceptional relationships with the maintenance staff, the professional golf staff, and our membership.
Qualifications
5+ years golf course/turf management experience
2 or 4 year degree/certificate in turf grass management
Utah pesticide application license (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
Strong leadership, communication, and organization skills
Valid Driver’s License
Having the ability to lift 50+ pounds and bend, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, and reach with both arms for sustained periods of time as the task dictates.
Ability to work 40+ hours per week, including weekends and holidays
Spanish speaking is a plus
Compensation
$70,000 – $80,000 DOE (+ annual bonus)
